About the designer: Wayne Thompson began his career in art studios and advertising agencies on the east coast of Australia. He began designing type in 1996 and released his first typeface, ITC Django, through International Typeface Corporation in 1998. He started Australian Type Foundry in 2001 and has since published over 100 individual typefaces.

Nowadays Wayne spends most of his time working on corporate type commissions.

About the design of Bosin: I made a Valentine's day card for my wife by writing on some card with an Artline felt-tip pen. I tried to write it in such a way that it wasn't my usual handwriting, and it came out very small and widely spaced. The small size of the handwriting meant that the typeface carried a rough edge when anlarged, exaggerating the bleed of the ink into the card. I developed this card sample into the full font, and named it Bosin.

The name Bosin comes from my brother-in-law's neighbour's  dog at the time, which was a Jack-Russell terrier.
