Chowdahead is a lively and funky display font which seems to leap up and down in time with the music. It's a perfect choice for party invitations and anything musical.
The whimsical nature of this typeface was inspired by lettering found on some signage at a music festival. Designer Wayne Thompson made a sketch of the sign, which only contained a few words, and spent a few weeks developing it into a fully fledged display font.
His aim with this font was to create a happy, festive typeface with a lot of quirky features such as the fully looped lower case l. The font originally had closed counters on the o and g but was perceived as being too quirky, and was interrupting the visual rhythm of the font.
Chowdahead has been recently updated to include Central European glyphs.
The name Chowdahead comes from a word commonly uttered by a past workmate of the designer's. Daz, you know who you are.
